MUSIC

Thani has been writing music for as long as they can remember and is currently working on their first EP!  They draw inspiration from the work of Joni Mitchell, Jewel, Anaïs Mitchell, and other pop and folk artists.

Thani began composing for musical theatre while studying at the University of Michigan, where they graduated with a Minor in Musical Theatre Composition under the guidance of Prof. Lynne Shankel.  They hope to use their unique voice as a queer, biracial, non-binary writer, to create space in musical theatre for intersectional identities and underrepresented stories.

THE LAUGH OF THE MEDUSA

THE LAUGH OF THE MEDUSA is a new musical loosely based upon Greek mythology and inspired by the 1975 feminist essay "The Laugh of the Medusa" by Hélène Cixous.

A young artist and her father are living a "perfect life", until she turns eighteen and is forced to learn some dark truths that shake the very foundation of her world and identity.  MEDUSA uses mythology as a springboard to investigate father-daughter and father-son relationships, gender-based violence, and the power of art to shape lives.
